    About the ps5 controller test

    Updated

The PS5 controller test reads your DualSense through the browser's Gamepad API, the same way PC games do. You can connect it with a USB-C cable or pair it over Bluetooth. Each button lights up as you press it, the L2 and R2 triggers show how far they travel, and both thumbsticks show their exact position, which is how you catch stick drift: a stick that reports movement when you aren't touching it.

    How to use it

    1. Connect the DualSense with a USB-C data cable, or pair it over Bluetooth by holding Create and the PS button until the light bar flashes.
    2. Press any button so the browser detects the controller.
    3. Press every button and pull both triggers all the way, checking each reaches its maximum.
    4. Let go of both sticks and watch their values. They should rest at or very near zero.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I know if my DualSense has stick drift?

Leave both sticks untouched. If either one shows a value that wanders or sits well away from zero, it's drifting. Small values that stay steady are normal and are handled by in-game deadzones.

    Can I test a PS5 controller without a PS5?

Yes. Connect it to a computer with a USB-C data cable or Bluetooth and open this page in Chrome or Edge. Charging-only cables won't work, so try another cable if nothing appears.

Can it test haptics or the adaptive triggers?

No. Browsers can't drive the DualSense's haptic motors or trigger resistance. This test covers buttons, triggers, sticks and the touchpad button.
