    About the controller vibration test

    Updated

The controller vibration test sends rumble effects to your gamepad through the browser's Gamepad API. You can drive the heavy (strong) and light (weak) motors separately from 0 to 100%, set a duration up to 5 seconds, play a pulse pattern, and, on controllers that report them, rumble the trigger motors too. It shows whether the browser exposes rumble for each connected controller. Rumble works in Chrome, Edge and Safari 16.4 or later; Firefox does not support it.

    How to use it

    1. Open the page in Chrome or Edge and connect your controller by USB or Bluetooth.
    2. Press any button on the controller so the browser detects it.
    3. Try the heavy and light motor presets one at a time and feel which side of the controller vibrates.
    4. Raise and lower each slider and press Play to check the motor responds across its range.

    Frequently asked questions

Why does it say vibration is not supported?

The browser can see the controller but gives web pages no way to rumble it. Firefox does not support gamepad rumble, Safari only from version 16.4, and many generic pads report no motors even in Chrome. It does not mean your motors are broken.

    Which motor is which?

Most controllers have a heavy, low-frequency motor in the left grip and a light, high-frequency motor in the right grip. If one preset gives no vibration at all, that motor may be faulty.

Can it tell me if a motor is broken?

No. The browser only confirms that the effect was sent. You have to feel or hear the vibration yourself to know the motor works.
