About the touch test
Updated
The touch test draws every contact on a canvas so you can see exactly where your screen registers input. It counts active touches against the maximum your hardware reports, recognises pinch and rotate gestures, shows stylus pressure and measures touch latency. Trackpads can be tested for scrolling and pinch gestures too.
How to use it
- Draw slowly across the whole pad, including the edges and corners.
- Look for gaps in the line, which mark dead zones.
- Place several fingers down at once and compare the count with the hardware maximum.
- Pinch and rotate with two fingers to check gestures.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find dead zones on my touch screen?
Draw lines across the whole screen. Breaks in a line that you drew continuously show where the digitizer isn't registering touch.
What are ghost touches?
Touches the screen registers when nothing is touching it. They show up as rings or marks you didn't make, often caused by a damaged digitizer or a faulty charger.
How many touch points does my screen support?
The hardware maximum is shown on the page. Most phones support 5 to 10 simultaneous touches.
