About the what is my screen resolution?
Updated
The screen resolution checker reads what your browser reports about your display: the screen size in CSS pixels, the device pixel ratio, and from those the physical pixel resolution. It also shows the browser viewport, the screen area left after the taskbar or dock, the aspect ratio, colour depth, orientation, and whether the browser reports HDR and a wide colour gamut such as Display P3. Every value updates live when you resize, zoom, rotate or move the window to another monitor.
How to use it
- Reset browser zoom to 100% with Ctrl+0 (Cmd+0 on a Mac).
- Read the screen resolution and physical pixels at the top.
- Check the pixel ratio: above 1 means display scaling, browser zoom or a high-density screen.
- Use Copy summary to paste the details into a support ticket or forum post.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my resolution lower than my monitor's?
Browsers report CSS pixels. With Windows display scaling at 150%, a 2560 × 1440 monitor reports 1707 × 960 and a device pixel ratio of 1.5. The physical pixels figure multiplies them back.
Why do the numbers change when I zoom?
Browser zoom changes the device pixel ratio and the size of a CSS pixel, so the reported screen and viewport sizes change too. Reset zoom to 100% for your real figures.
Is the physical resolution exact?
It is CSS pixels times the device pixel ratio, rounded, which is the best figure a browser gives. It can be off by a pixel or two with fractional scaling, and phones may report a scaled size rather than the panel's native one.
