About the gpu benchmark
Updated
The GPU benchmark renders a WebGL particle vortex at several load presets and tracks current and average frame rate, 1% low FPS and frame time. It also measures your display's actual refresh rate and shows the graphics chip your browser reports, so you can confirm a high-refresh monitor is really running at 120 or 144 Hz.
How to use it
- Close other heavy tabs and apps.
- Start with a light preset and confirm the FPS matches your refresh rate.
- Step up to heavier presets until the frame rate drops.
- Compare average FPS with 1% lows. A big gap means stutter.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my FPS capped at 60?
Browsers sync rendering to your display's refresh rate. If your monitor is 144 Hz but shows 60, check the refresh rate in your display settings and the cable you're using.
What are 1% lows?
The frame rate of the slowest 1% of frames. It shows stutter that an average hides.
Is this as accurate as a native benchmark?
No. It measures WebGL performance in the browser, which is useful for comparing devices and spotting problems but lower than native game performance.
