    About the discord mic test

    Updated

If friends can't hear you on Discord, the first question is whether the problem is your microphone or Discord's settings. This test checks the mic directly in your browser: it shows your input level and live spectrum, lets you pick between microphones, and records a short clip so you can hear how you sound. If the mic works here but not in Discord, the fix is in Discord's Voice & Video settings.

    How to use it

    1. Allow microphone access when your browser asks.
    2. Pick the same microphone you use in Discord.
    3. Speak at your normal volume and check the level moves well above the floor.
    4. Record a short clip and play it back to judge volume, clarity and background noise.

    Frequently asked questions

My mic works here but not in Discord. What now?

Open Discord's User Settings, then Voice & Video. Set Input Device to the same mic you picked here, raise Input Volume, and check whether Input Sensitivity is set too high for your voice to trigger it.

Why do I sound quiet or cut out on Discord?

Usually it's input sensitivity or noise suppression cutting quiet speech. Lower the sensitivity threshold or switch to Push to Talk, and try turning noise suppression down.

    Is my recording uploaded?

No. The recording stays in your browser's memory and is discarded when you leave the page.
